We've been following the missing person story of Talkeetna musher Melanie Gould since she disappeared nearly two weeks ago. Saturday, Alaska State Troopers informed KTVA-CBS 11 News that she called them to pick her up near Cantwell. What troopers did not tell KTVA is that her friends found her during their own search and called forces to pick her up and transport her to a local hospital.

One of Gould’s friends, Amanda Olson, said Gould spent the night in the Matanuska-Susitna Regional Medical Center and was released Sunday morning. Olson said when the group of friends found Gould she was dehydrated and tired, but not injured. Currently Gould is staying with her family in an undisclosed area in the state.

When KTVA asked why Gould left without telling anyone, Olson said she didn’t know, and does not plan on asking Gould any time soon.

“She is ok and that at this time we just want to respect her privacy and let her recover from what she's been through, and when she's ready I'm for sure she'll be willing to talk to all of us about what was going on,” Olson said.

“But right now she just needs some time to recover and get adjusted again to where everything is at.”

Olson is one of three administrators on the Facebook page created to find the once missing Melanie Gould titled, "Have You Seen Melanie Gould?"

Olson said the page is still created, but not published for the public to view. She said the administrators will reinstate the page after they get some much needed rest and relaxation now that their friend Melanie Gould is safe.

If she was kidnapped and got away without knowing who took her, it would make sense to avoid a search party. What if the men who took her joined a search party in the area they knew she was in as a way to find her? It makes sense she would wait until she saw people she knew and trusted looking for her instead of risking her life with strangers.

Liked This Site Earlier But Now Resend That, After Viewing Their Comments On This Story On Melanie. It Appears That Their Concerns For Hits And Ratings They Willingly Allow The Baggering On Melanie Demeaner & Charactor. They Have Moderators To Filter Any Comments. As Is Stated In One Post KTVA News Agency, As Any Other, Can Be Held Assessories To The Facts By Providing The Forum By Which These Calious Individuals Are Expressing Themselves Against Melanie. They Are Grievously Misstaken If They Think Their Exclusion Clause At The Bottom Protects From Liabilities. & Feel This Needs Be Stated On This Page. For I'm Sure Those Whom, Who Knows Why, Having The Intent To Cause Malice Againt Mel. So In Preveiwing This. They Receive Fair Warning. Stop & Desist, While Your Ahead. There Is No Anonymous Such Things When It Come Anything Online, How You Think Hackers Are Caught.Whether They Identify Themselves, Or Not Their Address Is Included On All Transmitions. KTVA Would Have To Release If Ordered By The Courts. That Said It Would Be wise If You all Go Find You A Book, To Sink Your Teeth Into.

Something happened that sent Melanie away in an uncharacteristic manner. We may never know what. Think: Was it unusual for her to get gas at 3 AM? Obviously the friends who found her thought the state police should be involved. Let's give the woman time to get any help she needs.

"What troopers did not tell KTVA is that her friends found her during their own search and called forces to pick her up and transport her to a local hospital." So why didn't her friends transport her to the hospital? Do her friends also not care how taxpayer dollars are spent? This story gets more ridiculous every time more is reported on it.

Oh, and I don't think she asked anyone to rescue her. Love and compassion best regards to Melanie.

Interesting story. I feel bad for her. The government wastes so much money why single her out?

Hello, I agree with some and some I don't. She knew people were looking for her, but yet our tax dollars paid for this rescue! I'm grateful she was found alive but she needs to tell us why she ignored the rescue effort. If someone else was missing they might have needed these rescue efforts more? I'm just saying she needs to state why she left!

I wonder if Talkeetna would do this for any resident, or just the more popular ones.

What? KTVA provides a forum for libelous statements to be posted anonymously and disavows responsibility? KTVA better police these comments if KTVA owns this page unless KTVA wants to be an accessory to libel. I see terribly inconsiderate, uninformed, and inexcusably libelous statements here. Some of you anonymous people are disgusting. The woman was lost for 11 days, her friends didn't give up on her, they found her after the official search ended. They didn't find her murdered, they didn't find her eaten by a bear, they found her alive. She went to the hospital after 11 days without food or much water, if any. She may have become delusional. Obviously she made mistakes, that's the definition of being lost in the woods, why ridicule her? She almost died!!! Now shut up, let her recover from her ordeal, and quit saying such terrible things about her. Give her the benefit of the doubt! Congratulations to her friends and the whole community for saving her life!!!!!

Over the years I've left town on my own and spent time alone... it is hard coming back to town ... I was okay once back ... just there were a few times I turned around and spent a couple more days living on my own... if this is the case young miss Melanie ... you are not alone. As for the others .. if they don't like it they can [your favorite here] it

I agree she should be sent the bill, not that she could do anything about it part time at the roadhouse. We need somthing like the "Baker Act," a law in Florida that lets law inforcment forcilbly place people in mental wards if they are viewed to be a danger to themselves. Pilots and searchers risked their lives for this nutjob. Net time, let her kill herself, and save the state some cash. Idiots like this make me be ashamed to be an Alaskan.

Human life was saved...takes precident over everything...even *gasp* animal life. The dogs were literally never endangered anyway. Human rights and life are and always will be more important animal rights and life. The dogs' welfare was not harmed, they're just fine. I'm way more concerned about Melanie's welfare and wish her well.

When the government and public give of their time and money to help someone, and that someone actually didn't need help, the govt and public are owed an explanation and full restitution.

Get a grip, people. The woman was found ALIVE-was that not what we were all praying for? I love animals-have and care for them daily and concientiously-but they are not to be put on the same level or even, as some of you seem to think, ABOVE human life. Loving her dogs as she so obviously did, she had to have had a very, very good reason for doing what she did. LAY OFF!

Melanies dogs were never in danger. Talkeetna is a community that watches out for their own. That, seems to be difficult for so many to comprehend. Mels dogs were instantly cared for.

Read the reports on the Anchorage Daily News. Gould knew rescuers were looking for her and avoided them. She should have animal cruelty charges filed against her for leaving her dogs without food and water. And, she didn't arrange to have anyone take care of her dogs.
