Massive Fire at Midtown Apartment Building

ANCHORAGE - An fire was reported at around 8:45 Thursday morning at an apartment complex at 34th Avenue and Eureka. Fire department spokesman Al Tamagni reported no fatalities at a morning press conference, with two people taken to an area hospital. The Municipality of Anchorage and the American Red Cross of Alaska have opened a shelter at the Spenard Recreation Center for those displaced by the fire; for more information on the shelter, call 211.
