Sunday night Anchorage fire fighters cleaned up what’s left of a two-story building in Fairview, after fighting the blaze that destroyed the roof.

No one was hurt in the flames, but several families were displaced from their homes on 1029 E. 12th Avenue, near Juneau Street.

The Anchorage Fire Department said they received 911 calls just before 9:00 p.m. with concerns of trapped victims in the second floor. However, after arriving at the scene, they said everyone was out safe and no one was hurt.

Fire fighters say they don’t know what ignited the blaze, but believe it started in the lower level of the building and worked its way up to the attic.

The Red Cross will be offering the displaced families assistance with housing and other needs for the next few days.
