Department of Corrections: Israel Keyes Mistakenly Issued Razor Used in SuicideKeyes had previously been caught with a handmade handcuff keyANCHORAGE - On September 11 last year, during his time in federal custody, serial killer Israel Keyes was found guilty of possessing an object that had been modified to act as a handcuff key. He appeared before a disciplinary board and was sentenced to serve 60 days in segregation. While in segregation, the Department of Corrections says a razor was mistakenly issued to Keyes and was not retrieved. The DOC says Keyes used a razor to cut his left wrist. I doubt if Keyes is a "hit man" like some people think. He is just a serial murderer who take joy in killing people and getting away with it. If it wasn't for the fact that he had more to say, his premature journey to the burning hell was none too soon.

may be this dude is a hired thug to take out folks that threaten others "schemes" they do have them... and may be his connections in Alaska are being investigated as the ties connect to others of the same criminal fashions and crimes committed? I would look at politicians and past ones especially to see if affiliations of acquaintances or peoples is a cross-match...people know people and if this thug was a hired hand by cough cough then that explains why it's still in the media... unanswered questions do pose a threat as well...

Who has ever heard of someone dieing from a slit wrist? Was IK so needful of killing that he was driven to strangle himself? Selfish and self-satisfying is what IK was all about. In the end, he even managed to selfishly withhold information that could have helped many others deal with their losses.

Oldmanrains, its a mistake because this sucker killed himself too soon. There are several unsolved murders he could have put to rest. That will help the families move on. After he talked, then he can go hang himself. It is the loss of information that he could have provide that hurt. Not the guy itself. DOC Alaska's failure here prevent these unknown number of cases from having a closure. Failure of leadership from top to bottom.

Robin, he was NOT on suicide watch. Where do such stories come from? He was initially place on suicide watch, then taken off. He may have been considered for suicide watch again but that proves to be moot. He killed himself in a segregation unit, not in a mental health unit where people who are on suicide watch are kept.

He was on suicide watch and would not have had access to a razor or any type of glass or mirror. Someone really screwed up or purposely screwed up hoping he would kill himself. Now all the secrets, all the people he killed, we'll never know. His death before they got all they could from him, will cause so much heartache because there are probably families out there right now still wondering what happened to their child. They will never know because the murderer was allowed to have a razor in his cell. shame

This is sheer folly. Inmates in segregation is allow to shave just like any other inmates in the institution. Seg units are issue certain amount of razors. Unless there is a post order forbiddening Keyes from having a razor, issuing him a razor would not be an issue. The problem with this article's failure to realize that officer failed to retrieve the razor issued to Keyes.
