Browder Not Chosen for Iowa JobAnchorage School District Superintendent Jim Browder staying put for nowANCHORAGE - Anchorage School District Superintendent Jim Browder will keep the job he has. Affiliate KCCI in Des Moines, Iowa reported the city’s superintendent job will go to Thomas Ahart, who's been serving as the interim superintendent. Browder told the Anchorage School Board around the beginning for February that he may have to leave Alaska because of family health reasons. He then told them on March 1 he was a finalist for the superintendent position in Des Moines. Browder traveled there on Wednesday to meet the school board and interview for the job. According to Anchorage School Board president Jeannie Mackie, Dr. Browder will be sitting down with the Board to discuss his future on March 14.

So glad to hear Iowans were intelligent enough not to be snowed by Browder. Unfortunately, Anchorage school board members were too naive to see that past is indeed prologue to the future. Iowa selected an Iowan. Alaska is stuck with someone exhibiting that he does not want to be here. It's interesting that Browder did not purchase any property / home in Alaska. Although an ill child and grandchild are serious issues, it would be very interesting to see if anyone can confirm any of this. The school board has gotten itself into a nasty mess; they and Browder should have to pay to get him out. Buy Alaskan next time.

Bowder and ASD both should be ashamed...the rest of us for going along with the farce...Gotta love having someone who doesn't want to be here driving the boat...Sheesh!

Isn't Jeannie Mackie leaving soon for another position? Gee, she sure has done a fantastic job here; maybe she should be our next superintendent :)

Browder has shown he's not trustworthy and has "NO" loyalty to her current position or the school district. He needs to be removed so he current job doesn't interfere with him searching for a new position. I bet he's searching for a new jobs while on the clock. Also, can we fire the people who hired him?? They seem to be just as incompetent.

It pretty clear that Browder is not happy here so we should just get rid of him and find someone who can be happy, won't be looking through the national help wanted ads and work happily on being Alaskan as well as head of ASD. If he got sick people in his family, why is he still here? Obviously, they can't be that sick if he staying in Alaska. We don't need freebooters like Browder running our ASD. We should get rid of this guy pronto!

I am frustrated with the fact that Alaska seems to like to hire outside. We have tremendous talent in Alaska and many leave because they are not supported by their state. I stay because I believe I can make a difference.

Seems to me that the Anchorage kids got shafted by a fly by nite Administrator. Didn't he say to the Iowa school board, that he was there at the right time for him to take the job? Parents should attend the next meeting and demand his removal. Don't buy out his contract, fire the sob
