This week's KTVA CBS 11 exclusive on "Alaska's View From The Hill," Matt Felling and U.S. Sen. Mark Begich (Alaska-D) discuss:

  • Sen. Begich's democratic colleagues pushing for higher ANWR protections
  • Shell in the Beaufort/Chukchi Seas
  • Sen. Jim DeMint's political action committee funding Joe Miller's legal fees
  • Despite the recession, U.S. corporations are making record profits

On Barack Obama's 7-year ban on offshore leases:

I've been hammering on 'em...I said 'Your 60 days is up.' You need to make a decision and get on with the show .... We have an opportunity. I think the 7 years is way too long, and I think it's an overreaction.

A Senate coalition is trying to increase protections of ANWR:

I think the letter those guys put out. It's their standard letter, they pulled it out of a printer from two years ago. They look around and say "Who's here this year?" and get them to sign it so they can make a political statement and be as green as they can.

Jim DeMint's role in the Alaska Senate legal fight:

Having someone from out of state plowing money in, telling Alaskans who should be their next Senator is wrong They need to get out of our business, and let us resolve it as the courts are now moving forward to resolve it.
