Arrests Made in Three Tok Burglaries

FAIRBANKS — Suspects in three Tok burglaries, including one from earlier this summer, were arrested this week.

All the suspects were teenagers or young adults who knew each other, and all have confessed, according to Alaska State Troopers in Tok.

Tok and surrounding villages saw a half-dozen unsolved property crimes in early July.

Two more recent burglaries at a construction company and the payment box at a campground led to arrests not long after the crimes were reported.

Sgt. Freddie Wells said it’s been easier to close the more recent cases because the three-member Tok trooper post changed schedules to put troopers on duty at night.

“We were able to contact some of the youth who were out at night, and they were able to provide some tips,” he said.

The arrests began Sunday with Duane Wolf, 18, of Tetlin and a juvenile from Tok. They are accused of burglarizing Burnham Construction in Tok.

On Monday, troopers arrested Tok resident David R. Alleman Jr. and another juvenile from Tok. They are accused of stealing money from the Tok River, Clearwater and Moon Lake campgrounds by cutting the locking mechanism from payment boxes.

On Wednesday, David C. Ervin, 18, of Tok and another juvenile from Tok were arrested and accused of burglarizing the Tok general store earlier this summer.

Tok is about 200 miles southeast of Fairbanks on the Alaska Highway. It has a population of about 1,500. A community meeting is scheduled Saturday to address how businesses can protect themselves from theft, Wells said.

These kids need JOBS!!!! work them 8 to 10 hours a day and they will be to tired to steal. it is gonna get a lot worse!
