ANCHORAGE - Joseph Renteria’s body was recovered Tuesday afternoon.

Police say it all began Monday night at about 7 p.m. when emergency crews got a report that a truck had gone off the pier.

This security footage from the Port of Anchorage shows Renteria, who worked for Doyon as security, driving at a low speed for several seconds before stopping.
The footage then shows the truck going off the port into about 50 feet of water. .
Officers say because of the high tide, it took nearly twenty hours to finally recover his body and the truck.

Police say rescue teams were on the scene immediatly after the truck went into the water...but didn't have the gear they needed on hand.
By the time they did it was too late.

“This kind of recovery is not without of it's own, as you can see water is murky, have to very carefully put people in the water to do the recovery,” said Lieutenant Dave Parker of the Anchorage Police Department.

According to Doyon, Renteria is survived by his wife and four children.

He started working for the company back in November of last year and was stationed at the Port of Anchorage in April.

Doyon is conducting it's own investigation into what the company is calling an accident.
