Woman in Remote Area Saved by FacebookInternet was only means of communication at homestead outside Denali National ParkSay what you will about Facebook, but a 68-year-old Alaska woman is alive today partly because of a connection she made on the social networking site. Rena Ose lives on a remote homestead outside of Denali National Park. She wasn’t feeling well and knew she had to get to a hospital, but her only means of communication was her internet connection. Ose contacted a Facebook friend in Massachusetts who was able to arrange a charter flight for Ose and her husband from their homestead to a Fairbanks hospital. Doctors say Ose had suffered a serious heart attack and was lucky to have gotten medical attention when she did. Ose says she’s forever grateful to her Facebook friend. That makes for a great status update.
