Wildlife Conservation Center Mixes Moose Calves and Baby Musk OxThe musk ox babies are the first to ever be bottle-fed at the centerPORTAGE - The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center has quite a few new additions this year - including three orphaned moose calves and two baby musk ox. ”They're doing great,” said lead intern Erin Leighton. “The first few days there was some separation, but now they all sleep together, and hang out together and it seems to be going great. Staff members say they’ll keep the animals together as long as they keep getting along. Two orphaned moose calves will eventually be transferred back to a center in Kenai, but the musk oxen will call the conservation center their permanent home. |
