When it comes to raising awareness of the issue of sexual assault, can wardrobe make a difference?

Today you may see more people than usual in denim around the office.

The reason for that: In Italy, an 18-year-old woman was raped in Rome in 1997 but her attacker's conviction was overturned because the victim's tight jeans.

The judge said the jeans were so tight, the woman had to have helped the attacker remove them, which the judge said meant she was not raped.

What began as outrage in Italy has since evolved into a global protest.

Every year, men and women wear denim as a sign of support for survivors of sexual assault and in protest of the attitudes that allow sexual assaults to continue.

Today, April 27, the staff at KTVA CBS 11 News is joining in the visible protest of the myths that surround sexual assaults and rapes by wearing denim.
