ANCHORAGE - 44-year-old John Fields is hospitalized after he attempted suicide while police tried to arrest him.

The Mountain View man is accused of raping a boy, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

Police were at Fields' home, off of North Pine Street, attempting to serve him with an arrest warrant but no one answered the door. APD then entered the home and Fields proceeded to shoot himself in the head. Fields is now in critical condition.

Officials suspect there are other victims. He introduced himself to kids as Jack or John Michael Meyers to kids and was known to be friendly with neighborhood children.

If you have information about possible victims please contact Detective Torres at 786-8573.

I flat out hope that this ugly man dies! Am sorry he didn't die instantaneously. Yort - i agree, but i am pretty sure (not being a legal expert here) that if the gov't did have that program, some civil rights lawyer(s) would cry foul, because these perp's/predators have "rights" too.
