ALASKA - Women in Alaska make less than men, but exactly how much less differs based on race, according to a new report by the National Partnership for Women and Families.

According to the data, for every dollar an Alaskan man makes a women makes 75 cents, which amounts to a roughly $14,000 gap in annual wages.

Black women make even less than their white counterparts, getting 62 cents to a mans dollar. Latinas get 54 cents.

According to researchers, this wage disparity harms families and the economy because more than 28,000 households in Alaska are headed by women.

Maybe if women worked the tough jobs that men work on a regular basis they'd make more money. the vast majority of people on fishing boats and working oil rigs have balls because it takes balls. stupid survey is stupid

(1) The minimum wage hurts the economy because of its existence; (2) the sad situation of 28,000 fatherless homes is the larger issue - the income disparity is one of the symptoms of this; (3) Also not mentioned in the article is what percentage of the workers (male and female) are illegals - these result in suppressed wages.

Yeah, that's what's hurting the Alaska economy. Big .25 cent difference is just killing this economy. Hmmm, the minimum wage is killing the economy too, because the cost of living keeps going UP but wages are low. Who's the idiot doing the "research" for this? Where is Red Foreman when you need him?
