In July, there was a big recall for ground turkey meat and now you can add bacon to that list.

Just to be clear, the recall affects bacon from Canada but not Canadian bacon.

The USDA recalled nearly 400,000 pounds of diced bacon products from Ontario-based Aliments Prince after bacon tested positive for the bacteria that cause Listeriosis.

The illness typically lasts about a week with symptoms similar to the flu like fever, muscle ache, and vomiting.

No bouts of illness related to the bacon have been reported, but the USDA is continuing to investigate.

The following products are subject to recall:

  • 10-lb. shipping container with two 5-lb. packages of "Napoli Cooked Bacon Topping." Case code 83600.

  • 10-lb. shipping container with two 5-lb. packages of "Stefano Brand Cooked Diced Bacon." Case code 83601.

  • 10-lb. shipping container with two 5-lb. packages of "Bellissimo Cooked Diced Bacon." Case code 83602.

  • 10-lb. shipping container with two 5-lb. packages of "Olymel Cooked Diced Bacon." Case code 83603

  • 10-lb. shipping container with two 5-lb. packages of "Assoluti Cooked Diced Bacon." Case code 83608
