UAA Keeps Students Safe During FinalsUAA double safety officer patrols, offering safety escorts to students during late night study sessions
This week University of Alaska Anchorage students are taking their final exams for the spring semester. The UAA consortium library will extend their hours for students until to 2:00 a.m.
Campus police say extra precautions are being taken to keep students safe while cramming for tests into the wee hours of the morning. During extended study and tutoring hours, officers say they will be doing double patrols of the library and parking lots around campus. The university police department is open 24 hours 7 days a week so there will always be someone on duty. If needed, safety officials are just a phone call away. “We also offer basically safety escorts, if someone calls out to our department and asks for an escort, an officer will come and make sure they get out to their car safe of something like that,” said Officer Roger Frierson. To call for a police safety escort while on the UAA campus, dial (907) 786-1120. |
