ALASKA - Two stranded skiers are now safe after being hit by an avalanche.

Rescuers found the two skiers near an avalanche 35 miles southeast of Anchorage and brought them to safety early Saturday morning.

The two brothers were part of a group of three who were hit by an avalanche around 8 Friday night along the Turnagain Pass area.

The avalanche buried a 20-year-old male from New York, but he resurfaced with a broken leg.

His brother, a 28-year-old male from Anchorage, decided to stay with him, while the third skier, a 23-year-old from Girdwood, skied out for help.

Guardsmen arrived about five hours later, and were able to load them on a helicopter and transported them to Providence Hospital for treatment.

The 20-year-old male suffered a broken ankle.

i work for there dad and they are good kids they went to one of the safer mtns is there a price on life....

PLEASE PEOPLE, wouldja quit skiing and sno-going in avalanche areas?? Are you guys just out to tempt the mountains on purpose? Slap every one of 'em with the cost of rescue. Sheesh, wise up!
