ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police said the man who opened fire in a Midtown garage Wednesday evening, killing one employee and injuring another, is still on the run.
Michael Curry, 43, was working as the service manager at R&R Garage when a white male in his mid-20s walked into the garage and attempted to rob him. The suspect, wearing a black beanie and carrying a backpack, fatally shot Curry before running south on Blueberry Street and escaping in a dark colored, mid-size SUV. Alfredo Esteban, 23, was also shot and remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
Police describe the suspect as roughly 6' tall and 180 pounds, and witnesses told them he wore a white, short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. He spoke with a European accent, they said.
Anchorage Police Department cruisers blocked off the area of Fireweed Lane, surrounding the garage for several hours while canine units searched for the shooter.
