Two Shot in Midtown (UPDATED)Police seek suspect; victims' names releasedANCHORAGE - Anchorage police said the man who opened fire in a Midtown garage Wednesday evening, killing one employee and injuring another, is still on the run. Michael Curry, 43, was working as the service manager at R&R Garage when a white male in his mid-20s walked into the garage and attempted to rob him. The suspect, wearing a black beanie and carrying a backpack, fatally shot Curry before running south on Blueberry Street and escaping in a dark colored, mid-size SUV. Alfredo Esteban, 23, was also shot and remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Police describe the suspect as roughly 6' tall and 180 pounds, and witnesses told them he wore a white, short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. He spoke with a European accent, they said. Anchorage Police Department cruisers blocked off the area of Fireweed Lane, surrounding the garage for several hours while canine units searched for the shooter. Anyone with information is asked to contact APD at 786-8900.

With the added irony of "Stand-Your-Ground' laws, the need for some several million $$$'s worth of a 22 year wait on Death Row, with its added recreational-litigations too. All that is now shifted to instant 'judge, jury and execution, thanx to 'Stand Your Ground' law/s...Irony ? Justice ? Mind boggled ?

According to CourtView, Curry was due in court that day and his ex-wife had a restraining order against him. Wonder if that had anything to do with the shooting..

@angela - these people are geniuses who can single handedly fix the world's problems from their sofa. It doesn't matter that they don't know any of the details about the incident.

After reading the comments I've only one question. What has any of that to do with the article? Of course, with the limited information reported, I suppose I may have missed something about this case.

I have solutions to solve the crime problem. Extend the permenant fund for at least 5 years residence in alaska (no season trips), and have all the slope jobs to locals only. Words of King Israel

Welcome to Los Anchorage. Anchorage has more crime per 1000 people than NYC, LA, Chicago, Dallas, etc. Detroit is still the worst.
