Two People Injured Following Two RobberiesOne person shot by police officersANCHORAGE - At around 4:30 Tuesday morning, Anchorage police found the suspect vehicle in two overnight robberies on 30th Avenue between Spenard Road and Arctic Boulevard. An officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the car attempted to flee the area, ramming both citizens’ and police cars, at which time shots were fired by two Anchorage police officers. One person was shot and another injured in the incident; both were transported to local hospitals. One robbery occurred just before 11 p.m. on Monday night at the Brown Jug on the 3700 block of Spenard Road; the clerk said the suspect fled on foot. The other robbery was at the Holiday Station on the 8800 block of Jewel Lake Road around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday. The clerk there said the suspect left northbound on foot. A perimeter was set up and a canine unit was called out, but police suspended the search just after 3:45 p.m. The clerk had reported a “suspicious” vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle apprehended on 30th Avenue, where the shootings occurred. Police are not releasing the names of the officers involved for three days, per policy. No arrests have been made at this time. According to a press release, no further details will be released pending the investigation by the APD Homicide Unit and the State Office of Special Prosecutions and Appeals. |

Heard it all go down on APD internet radio. Great coordination by APD, and special mention to Emergency Medical folks who had to deal with a 'hot' scene...
