ANCHORAGE - On Tuesday, May 15, the Department of Defense announced the deaths of two soldiers based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Sergeant Brian L. Walker, 25, of Lucerne Valley, California, and Private First Class Richard L. McNulty III, 22, of Rolla, Missouri, were killed when their vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Bowri Tana, Afghanistan. They were assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division.

Three other soldiers were injured in the incident. Next of kin have been notified.
