ANCHORAGE - CBS 11’s Senior Enterprise Reporter Bill McAllister Tweeted live from the opening remarks in the Schaeffer Cox “2-4-1” militia trial, where Cox and two other defendants are being tried for planning to kill government officials. Read the entire synopsis of the case by clicking here.

Opening statements delivered in trial of three men accused of "2-4-1" scheme to kill state, fed employees.

Prosecution says defendant Schaeffer Cox confronted government workers, ordered list compiled of personal information.

Prosecution promises jurors they'll hear the defendants discussing weapons, plans on audio/videotapes.

Two informants helped FBI. Prosecution says jurors won't like one of them. He received $60,000 in moving expenses, other compensation.

Prosecution says it will present 70 witnesses, 700 documents.

Cox's lawyer says his militia was meant to defend members, families when economy and government collapsed, not to initiate violence.

Calls Cox young, idealistic champion of civil liberties, including gun rights. Says Cox said distasteful things but has right.

Lawyer says informants pushed the idea of violent action and Cox always resisted.

Lawyer: It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong.

Coleman Barney's lawyer says there will be no recordings played of Barney seeking grenades.

Barney's attorney is cut off when discussing the 1992 Ruby Ridge shootings in which fed snipers killed members of militia family.

Lawyer: $5,000 on Barney was to deposit in business account, not to buy weapons.

Lonnie Vernon's lawyer says he has bad taste in associates but was just a warm body in the militia, not part of the command.

Lawyer calls Vernon "by-catch" in the case. Says Vernon older than other two, not eloquent, exaggerates to get attention.

Presentation of the government's case about to begin.

FBI SWAT team leader describes arrests on March 10, 2011; weapons provided by HQ in Quantico admitted into evidence. Lunch break.

SWAT team leader concludes. Defense attorneys note their clients didn't fire, run or resist. FBI says that's point of major force. (2:14 p.m.)

Why are we seriously wasting more resources on these idiots? Now were getting a play by play of there court case, good job giveing them the attention there looking for KTVA! By the way when do you plan on reporting REAL NEWS happening in our community?!
