FAIRBANKS — Alaska State Troopers believe a trio of recent fires in Delta Junction are no coincidence. The fires took place on June 26, June 29 and July 4 and are suspected of being a series of related arsons, according to Beth Ipsen, AST spokeswoman.

Troopers believe the most recent fire was set around 5 p.m. Monday. An old motor home and some vehicles were burned. This was on the same property as the June 29 fire, where a shed was burned causing an estimated $10,000 in damage. Around 4 p.m. that day, the property owner reported hearing a four-wheeler drive away from the scene around the time he discovered fire.

The first fire, on June 26, was believed to have been set at 2 a.m. at a property located roughly a quarter mile away from the other two fires. That fire targeted an abandoned trailer.

Chris Grooms, the Fairbanks Deputy Fire Marshall, visited to the scenes of each fire shortly after the latest occurred, and determined them to be intentional.
