Treadwell's Largest APOC Complaint DismissedAgency says Lt. Governor didn't break campaign finance lawsLt. Governor Mead Treadwell is off the hook after the Alaska Public Offices Commission dismissed its largest charge against his 2010 campaign. The commission Thursday approved a consent agreement settling a campaign financial disclosure complaint against him. That complaint originally alleged Treadwell received advertising services at a discounted rate during his 2010 run for office, but that was dismissed by APOC. Today's agreement says APOC staffers found that Burkewood Creative, Treadwell's advertising agency, did not violate campaign finance law, and that all transactions were in fact commercially reasonable. Treadwell's campaign will still pay over $6,700 in APOC staff costs, and for what were deemed as confusing financial reports. Lt. Governor Treadwell told KTVA Thursday that he is pleased APOC came to the same conclusion that his own campaign had come to regarding that charge that ended up being dismissed. |
