Alaska is in the middle of peak tourist season, which means that people from all over the world are taking in the sights and sounds of the state.

According to the 26-year owner of ABC Motorhomes in Anchorage, Fourth of July travel plans prompted a rush on recreational vehicles, so much so that he rented out 13 motorhomes from his sale in order to meet demand.

“The nice thing about it is you can only unpack once unlike a hotel where you're in there and you have to unpack what have you. You've got your bathroom facilities with you, you've got a kitchen, take a nap when you want to, pull over by a lake or a stream,” said John Marquardt, owner of ABC Motorhomes.

He said travelers prefer the comfort of a bear-proof motorhome to braving nature in a tent. It costs about $200 a day to rent a motorhome, as opposed to $25,000 to purchase.
