It’s been nearly a week since Anchorage was hit with massive snow, which left cars buried for days and drivers stuck in their tracks.

Dozens of local towing companies, like Riggs Towing & Recovery, have been going nonstop since parts of the Glenn Highway were shutdown over the weekend because of dangerous driving conditions.

Its six-man crew has been out in full force, responding to dozens of drivers who ended up in the snow, and cars that wouldn’t start after days of cold temperatures. 

They’ve even had to turn down business.

“It’s really hard to tell somebody you can't come and help them out because as much as you want to and the equipment that you have... sometimes that doesn't always work,” said Andrea Riggs, co-owner of Riggs Towing & Recovery.

The tow company says so far its received more than 200 calls of drivers in distress this year.
