The question is: Should Alaska protect a minority against hate crimes? This question should not have ANYTHING to do with religion. This country is NOT a CHRISTIAN country. Nor is this state a Christian state. This country was based on freedom of religion! Why are we looking to religious leaders to give us their opinion on a matter of someone's safety? They are not the ones experiencing hate crimes. This enrages me so much. Speculating about what the Bible says is irrelevant in this case. Anyone that would decide not to protect the LBGT community against hate crimes, despite their religious beliefs, are just heartless and brainless. I am not anti-Christian, I just think Christianity should NOT dictate who should and who should not be protected against hate crimes. In fact, it is anti-Christian to not protect and love a human.

Susan, I guess the seminaries we attended didn't teach the Bible. For my part,I will be sure and inform Yale that they got it all wrong. Keep the faith, my friend.

FYI, we deleted a comment on here because it was disparaging. You can disagree with what people say, or their lifestyles, without resorting to name-calling, and we won't delete your comments. We want a civil discussion, please. - Brendan, KTVA editor, bjk@ktva.com

After listening to Susan Knight, It was easy to realize that she has never been trained as a pastor of attended a Seminary. Any Christian who has studued the bible, especially by going to the original languages (Hebrew O.T) and (Greek N.T.) would understand that Susan's understanding of God's word is flawed. This is not just my opinion. Most, if not all past and present theologians see Susans comments as pagan in nature. The olny thing I would ask her is that she would just call her belief system what it is. It is clearly not biblical. And of course, I will be called the mean spirited and intolerant one. Fine, but have studied the word, as has most but not all have.

MY question to the two pastors...if God changes with us, then should we not pair down the 10 commandments? Guess then, I can cheat on my wife, covet my neighbor's wife and his things, just can't steal or murder anyone. Oh, let me not forget, why do I need to keep holy the Lord's day and attend their services? And finally, if the Bible isn't the word of God...why preach it? P.S. To quote Paul, "Christ is the same yesterday, today and toorrow?" Or, are we to understand that Christ is not God?

Good work, Susan, in expressing the convictions of a multitude of clergy and Christians in this state. Whatever we may think theologically about homosexuality, it is inconsistent with Christian principles to support the legal exclusion of gay and transgender people in our society. The question on the ballot requires an answer to this question: Do we approve of denying equal opportunity to earn a living, pay taxes, and live in a home in our community> Should our gay sons and daughter be excluded from the American dream on the basis of "sinfulness?" Beware. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
