Summer Camp Student Filmmakers Debut Short Movies at Bear Tooth TheatreStudents made promotional videos for the Anchorage School District, public service announcements and short features.Students in an Anchorage summer camp for video production screened their short movies Thursday evening at the Bear Tooth Theatre. During the two-and-half weeklong camp, students made promotional videos for the Anchorage School District, public service announcements and short features. The movies played to a nearly full house. Teachers in the summer camp said they were impressed by the enthusiasm of the students who earned half of a high school credit for their efforts. "Very upbeat. I think the students really enjoyed the process of it,” said Frances Lucas, a teacher at the camp. “This summer school camp was for enrichment, and so students came here by choice because they have an interest in filmmaking." "I watched a lot of movies, and I thought it was cool to see what they did, and I just kind of wanted to see how it worked and what it took to make a movie," said high school sophomore Nate Jordan. Teachers said the ongoing presence of Los Angeles film crews in Anchorage helped generate excitement about the camp.
