Student, 19, Brings Loaded Gun on School Bus; ArrestedThe school bus driver spotted the .22-calibur handgun and immediately contacted authorities.
A 19-year-old Benny Benson Secondary School student was arrested this morning for possession of a loaded handgun on a school bus.
While driving from East High School to the King Career Center, the school bus driver spotted a weapon on student, Bryan Briggs; the driver quickly contacted school bus dispatch. According to the Anchorage School District, school resource officers found a loaded .22-caliber handgun in Briggs’ possession. “I’m grateful that the bus driver immediately reported what she saw, was able to remain calm, take appropriate steps to set the wheels in motion for police action and keep a dangerous situation from escalating,” said ASD Superintendent Carol Comeau. “Our school resource officers are a valuable asset and are appreciated for working diligently to keep our students safe.” ASD has a zero tolerance policy for weapons on school grounds, which extends to school vehicles. The district says it plans to seek expulsion for Briggs. Today is the third day back to school in Anchorage. |

Why is a 19 year old armed thug allowed to attend school with the other young law abideing children? Armed thugs have no buisness in our schools. Armed thugs belong behind bars with their parents

Hey you better check your postings before sending them through. It says "The district says it plans to seek expulsion for Briggs." It was Briggs that contacted the school. Benson is the one that had the gun. Then you said they found the gun on Briggs. Well which was it Briggs the driver or Benson the student, come on get it right would ya.

I dont see any point in letting him back in school after this. This kid needed Hot Sauce Mom to teach him right from wrong. Kids like this are a disappointment. If I had this kid I would ship him off to another state.

I remember growing up in this state. We would keep our rifles in our rifles in our lockers so we could go hunting after school. How times have changed.

I think that should be an automatic expolsion from school. i don't know what the policy is but that is what it should be.
