Studded Tire Removal Deadline May 1

If the long lines are any indication the deadline to change over your tires is drawing near.

Drivers throughout the entire state have until Tuesday, May 1, to remove their studded tires.

The deadline had been extended by the state public safety commissioner because of unusual late winter-like weather and unfavorable road conditions.

And, be warned—driving with studded tires after the May 1 deadline can get you fined up to $50 for each tire.

I made my appointment on May 15th over at Ace Automotive on North Post Road but during that weekend it began snowing. So I left my tires as they were(did not want to chance the weather). I think we are all cleared up for the summer so maybe time to get the change over? Wanted your opinion. Should I wait a little bit longer? Fyi for anyone that wants a great price on Tire Change Overs and Destud I found that Ace Automotive has the best rates @ $40. I think they do $10 destuding for each tire. My Wife actually went to place in town that had change overs for $35 but they just through our tires in the back w/o bagging and were rude to her. I would go to Ace I think there number is 278-2886 website aceautomotiveak.com (but site is under construction). They have a sign out front showing $40. Anyway
