Special Evening Programming to Remember Alaska Native Elder’s Passing

360 North will air three shows about the life and impact of Walter Soboleff, a Tlingit elder, educator and Presbyterian minister.

A local television station is planning to dedicate its evening programming on Friday, June 10, to a notable Alaska native elder who passed away last month.

360 North, broadcast in Anchorage on GCI channel 15, will air three shows about the life and impact of Walter Soboleff, a Tlingit elder, educator and Presbyterian minister; he died at the age of 102 on May 22.

360 North will begin the special programming Friday night at 8 p.m., showing the history of Soboleff's church in Alaska.

At 8:30 p.m., it will re-air an interview with Soboleff done by KTOO in 1987, followed by a broadcast of Soboleff’s memorial service in Juneau at 9 p.m.
