A Soldotna woman was struck and killed while checking on an injured animal on Robinson Loop Road early Tuesday morning.

A Soldotna woman was struck and killed by a Jeep on Robinson Loop Road early Tuesday morning.

Jennifer Rupe, 39, was hunched over and checking an injured animal when she was hit by a Jeep driven by her husband Carl Rupe, 43.

Alaska State Troopers say Carl Rupe's visibility was hampered by fog, darkness and another vehicle's headlights in front of him.

Jennifer Rupe's body is being sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
