Snowflakes Collected for Sandy Hook, CT Students"Operation Snowflake" at Kriner's Diner through weekendANCHORAGE - The Sandy Hook Elementary PTA hopes to create a winter wonderland when kids go back to school in January and asked people to make paper snowflakes. Kriner’s Diner in Anchorage is helping out with Operation Snowflake by getting customers involved. The restaurant has pre-drawn templates people can fold and cut out. Owner Andy Kriner said it’s a small way the Anchorage community can give back to kids affected by the shooting. By mid-afternoon the diner had several dozen snowflakes. Kriner says customers are having fun with the project. “I had some big, tough military guys making snowflakes this morning and they had a ball doing that. Then I had a guy at the counter who was probably 75 years old and he got a little help from the server cause he said it's been 70 years since he cut his last snowflake,” said Kriner. He’ll be collecting snowflakes at Kriner’s Diner on C Street through Sunday evening. |
