Anchorage police are on the search for at least one person suspected of firing gunshots behind the Boys and Girls Club in Mountain View Sunday evening.

While details are limited at this time, police said there was a physical disturbance that turned violent—that’s when a couple of teens took out weapons.

Around 7 p.m., the Anchorage Police Department received a report of several gunshots fired on the 400 block of Irwin Street in Mountain View.

When officers arrived they found bullets scattered across the street, wedged in building exteriors, and in a parked car.

The suspect(s) fled the scene before police arrived.

Witnesses told police they saw several teenagers arguing before taking out guns and shooting at each other.

“I just came out to have a cigarette, and I seen a white and black truck. I heard a boom, thought he threw a firecracker at him. Then I seen a gun come out, then I seen another gun come out and one guy started running towards me by that gray car and I shut the door,” said Robert Cameron who witnessed the shooting.

Police are unsure if there are any victims, but APD spokesman Lt. Dave Parker said that police have reason to suspect that someone may have been pistol-whipped.

One witness said he saw one of the suspects limping after the shots were fired.

If you have any information about the shooting, you can contact APD at 786-8900 or Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
