ANCHORAGE - Valerie Sifsof has been missing for 12 days.
Her father, Victor Sifsof, is leading family and friends in the search around Granite Creek Campsite, 64 miles south of Anchorage, where she was last seen on July 7.
“It's probably a father's worst nightmare; you never think this going to happen and when it does, at least for me, it’s a total focus on finding her alive,” said Victor Sifsof.
Sifsof's family says she had an argument with her boyfriend before she disappeared from campsite number 4.
"She was walking to another campsite when her boyfriend last saw her,” said Siflof.
"We are shifting our emphasis to a potential abduction and the reason we say that is because we know Valerie well and if she could, she would call,” he said.
State troopers were involved in the search for five days, before pulling their resources on Sunday.
Troopers say Valerie Sifsof’s case is now an open missing person's case and they have no evidence to indicate anyone abducted her.
Family and friends say they will remain in the area until they’ve covered as much ground as possible around the campsite.
She wasn't reported missing until Wednesday, July 11.
