Search Is On For Man Missing at Harding LakeAlaska State Troopers pulled out all the stops to locate a man missing at Harding Lake early Monday morning.
FAIRBANKS — Alaska State Troopers pulled out all the stops to locate a man missing at Harding Lake early Monday morning.
Troopers received a call at 4 a.m. from a friend of Patrick Hunsberger, 25, of Fairbanks. Hunsberger had taken a jet ski onto the lake about 1 a.m. He was not wearing a life jacket and reportedly had been drinking. According to troopers, there were high winds in the area at the time. Hunsberger’s friends found the jet ski on the far side of the lake, but there was no trace of the man and no key in the ignition. The key had been attached to a tether cord, which likely was attached to Hunsberger. This safety mechanism ensures that if a jet ski rider falls off, the key is pulled out and the jet ski will come to a stop. Assisting in the search effort were six trooper dogs, a dive team from Fort Wainwright and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper flying a Super Cub. Troopers searched the shoreline and then conducted a grid search of the lake with wildlife troopers and members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. |

Don't take it personally or anything, your initial comment was just dumb, and I took offense to it. You and Wes both. There is just something annoying about people who throw their oppinions into other business when that's not the point of the article. The focus should be: "Hey let's help find this guy, pray for him, etc." Not: "Man, something sounds fishy here. Perhaps he was MURDERED!.. in the middle of a lake with people all over, in the weekend of a major holiday, for no reason." No.. Nothing sounds fishy at all. If there was any evidence of anything like that the REAL authorities would have said something. I'm done responding to this. I'm sorry, emotions are high and, well, I've never been one to endure asininity.

What?? What are you even talking about? If your story is true, how would you have felt if, while people were still out there looking for him, people are sitting on computers making ridiculous remarks and shifting the focus of the matter at hand to alcohol when really the focus should be solely on finding the guy. You didn't make any sense. And yes, free speech pisses me off sometimes. That's fine, it's everyone's right, it's just unfortunate so many intelligent people have to be subjected to B.S. from... well, we'll just call them less intelligent. I know Pat personally.. Sorry, but this is a serious matter and Pat was most definitely not murdered... I would be willing to bet anything on it. That's just stupid. Anyway your story doesn't make sense.. your buddy said he fell out of a boat, but he was shot? Soo... wouldn't suspect A be the buddy? Sounds farfetched... butttt maybe. But perhaps.. Psh.. Texans..

Sorry you don't like free thought and free speech Chris L., but unless you know something the rest of us don't at this point any situtation is possible and should be considered. And yes I say this because this is the same situation that I lost my brother to 4 years ago in texas! Buddy said he fell out the boat, when they pulled his body from the woods 3 days later around the lake it was the bullet in his head that turned out to be the death! Sorry you are to blind to see human error.

Wowwww, extreme insensitivity. A) foul play theory guy is a crazy person & Wes is an effing idiot.. people make mistakes all the time and this is clearly one of them.Minus the alcohol, how many people, sober mind you, die on personal watercraft every year? There is no way you know just how intoxicated he was.. and, more importantly, who leaves comments like this when someone is missing? This is someone's life we're talking about! Pat was a good kid, and people like you deserve to be run out of town. Homicide??! Really? He was a kid, and kids make mistakes.. I'd like any of you to tell me that you didn't make stupid and dangerous mistakes when you were young. The guy needs to be remembered in a positive way, and people like you make that difficult. It's sad that you have nothing better to do with your time than to throw your negative two cents into a discussion about a terrible tragedy. I hope you never have to read this kind of b.s. about any of YOUR loved ones.

Is this missing persons or a homicide? Who says they saw him last and why would they let an intoxicated person go out in those conditions at that time? This sounds a little strange, almost fishy still but hopefully its just a case of lost boater.

Hopefully this isnt another missing musher scenario, don't get me wrong I truly hope this guys alive and okay but if he is just on a Walkabout tryin to get himself together this would real bad. Not that letting your drunken friend looose on harding lake in rough waters at 1 in the morning is really a nice thing to do, but hopefully this all goes well.
