School District Releases Names of Applicants for Vacant School Board Seat

ANCHORAGE - Former state lawmaker Gretchen Guess stepped down from the Anchorage School Board's seat D on March 1 to take a job out of state. The board solicited applications for the vacancy March 5 through 19, and released the list (below) of 41 applicants on Wednesday, March 20. Guess’s replacement is expected to be named March 30, at a special meeting to interview the candidates. The appointee will remain on the school board until the April 2014 municipal election, at which time seat D will be on the ballot for a three-year term.
