An Anchorage woman’s life was spared Tuesday morning as mere inches separated her from a vehicle that crashed into her home.

Anchorage police say 61-year-old Nadine LaSevre had just sat down in a living room chair when Brandie McGrew, 49, drove her Dodge Durango completely through the front wall of the house, barely missing LaSevre.

McGrew was headed southbound on Lake Otis Parkway near Northern Lights Boulevard when she apparently lost control of her SUV, running through LaSevre's front yard and smashing into her living room.

“This woman was sitting in her chair and the vehicle actually pushed the chair backwards and out to the left so she escaped death by just mere inches,” said Anchorage Police Department spokesman Lt. Dave Parker.

LaSevre was shaken up but was not injured.

McGrew sustained minor injuries and was taken to Providence Medical Center, however, before police could question the woman, she left her hospital room; she was soon located within the hospital and is now being treated.

McGrew has not yet been charged, but police believe alcohol was a factor and are awaiting results of toxicology reports.
