There are just two more weeks of fuel delivery left to rural Alaska before shipments will stop for the winter.

Crowley Maritime representative Bob Cox says that prices were higher this summer because the price of fuel went up a dollar per gallon from last year.

Fuel barges from Bethel made three shipments this summer up the Kuskokwim River to rural villages, and prices in those bush areas are now set for the winter.

Current gas prices in some Western Alaska villages:

  • Nome - $5.44
  • Bethel - $6
  • Aniak - $6.61
  • Hooper Bay - $6.98
  • McGrath - $7.15
