Professional Skateboarder Returns to Hometown for Solstice FestivalAdrian Williams came back to Anchorage to support the local skateboarding community and to encourage teens to stay out of trouble by getting involved in sports.
On Saturday thousands of people celebrated the longest weekend of the year with the Downtown Solstice Festival in downtown Anchorage.
This year’s festival had plenty of activities for the family including an appearance from a professional skateboarder, who was born and raised in Anchorage. Adrian Williams, 28, returned to his hometown to help support the local skateboarding community and help encourage teens to stay out of trouble by participating in sports. Williams, sponsored by Think Skateboards, now lives in California and travels the world talking to other skateboarders about not giving up on their dreams. He says skateboarding gave him an outlet while growing up in Alaska, and wants other kids to know that it’s never too late to learn a new sport. “It’s something that I think is very good for the youth right now…it’s not exactly a team sport,” he said. |

OK educate me... What is a professional skateboarder? Is it like a professional pipe smoker? I know what a 1800s professional pedestrian was... Learn something new everyday... Thx...

They just told you in the article.....its someone who is paid to travel talk and skateboard. Not too many sponsored smokers out there. If you have never heard of a pro skateboarder you don't have very professional observational skills.

Wow, psmith. I think you've found a new profession, and its not skateboarding as far as I can see!
