Presidential Candidate Ron Paul Visits AlaskaAddresses supporters and others Sunday at the Dena’ina CenterANCHORAGE - The first Republican presidential candidate of 2012 to visit Alaska was in Anchorage Sunday to gather support ahead of Super Tuesday. More than a thousand supporters showed up to the Dena'ina center to listen to Ron Paul speak about his views on foreign policy and the problems of excessive government spending. The grandfather of 18 presented his views to more than a thousand excited Alaskans at the Dena'ina Center Sunday night. One of the big talking points: inflation and problems with the Federal Reserve, which Ron Paul blames for the rise in gas prices. "Why is the price of gasoline going up? Well the number one reason the price of gasoline is going up is the value of your dollar is going down,” Paul told the audience. Paul wants to cut one trillion dollars of real spending, and to get there he says he would make cuts that may not go down well with all Republicans. "…Overseas spending, the welfare that goes to foreigners and foreign banks and foreign wars, we could cut a lot of money out of overseas spending and move rapidly towards a balanced budget,” he said. Paul says a different approach to foreign policy is needed, saying America can't be the policeman of the world. "The difference now compared to four years ago, the American people are tired of these wars and they want us to come home.” And this view pleased many in the crowd. "I agree with him that we should bring our troops home and cut out spending and just do what's absolultly necessary," said Cari Giliam, a supporter of Paul’s presidential run. Paul told the crowd tonight that the Alaskans he's met agree with his view that the government should stay out their lives, and wallets. "If a strong message can be sent from Alaska, which is known for your independence and liberty, it will be a loud and clear message," Paul told the crowd He'll continue pushing his messages, with the goal of picking up Alaska’s 27 delegates. |

Erroll Booth, if the only thing negative you can come up with to comment about is his age, that clearly shows your lack of knowledge regarding politics. Perhaps you should do as the previous poster suggested and keep that ignorance to yourself because it benefits no one. However, it was a pleasure to see Ron Paul. He is a long time hero of mine and I am still on a high from his speech! :-) Happy Voting, folks!

Republicans caused this financial melt-down, so we can not vote those greedy people back in power. The Democratos have not solved anything. But, if Ron Paul comes out as an independent after these caucauses, then why not give his Libertarian ideas a chance to work.

sorry but this guy looks like he is closer to the grave than any kind of presidential seat. guy looks like he is gonna have a heart attack any moment. someone admit him into the nursing home so he don't break a hip.
