President Says No to KeystoneAlaska's senators disagreePresident Barack Obama has denied the permit for the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline at what he said was the advice of the State Department He released a statement Wednesday saying, “… As the State Department made clear last month, the rushed and arbitrary deadline insisted on by Congressional Republicans prevented a full assessment of the pipeline's impact, especially the health and safety of the American people, as well as our environment. As a result, the Secretary of State has recommended that the application be denied. And after reviewing the State Department's report, I agree." Tuesday the president’s own job council said the energy pipeline projects like this one can create hundreds of thousands of American jobs. Alaska’s two senators had their own two cents to add. Senator Lisa Murkowski took to Facebook today, saying, “Given the economic instability in the world and the growing threats to our nation's energy security, I am disappointed that the President would deny or further delay the Keystone XL pipeline. A pipeline which would deliver vitally needed jobs and provide oil from our most reliable ally and biggest trading partner. This is a step backward for the US economy." Senator Mark Begich also added, “America needs more affordable energy and the jobs its development would produce, so the Obama administration's decision to deny or delay the Keystone Pipeline project from moving forward is disappointing and frustrating. I'll continue to push the administration to approve this jobs-creating project." Critics of the pipeline say that the project could harm the environment and pollute water supply along the pipeline’s path, while proponents said that the United States needs a project that would generate jobs for Americans. |

We as Alaskans should see this as an opportunity to push for a natural gas pipeline. Even if we build a pipeline for mainly Alaskan use, jobs, cheaper, cleaner home heat and power could be the reward.

Is this the pipeline where the US bears all the risk and Canada reaps most of the benifies. Why did the Republicans give a deadline for this project. How many pockets were lined in Washington. Something just smell right to me. By the way Obama isn't respondible For high gas prices or the high unemployment rate lets get all of that was put inplace by the father and son team tha left the office. As the saying goes if something looks to good the be real then maybe its not that good. Think about that before you speak. If something goes wrong then you and people like you will blame President Obama. As for the high gas prices just look at the greedy oil companies there profits have never been higher. Greed in the US is running rampet. I hear people talk about how the oil company need to make a profit, until they just get greedy.

he could have "saved or created" ten times as many REAL jobs as his trillion dollar stimulus boondogle, without spending a dime, but no, we like unemployment and high gas prices.
