ANCHORAGE - Over 4,000 homes and businesses were still in the dark Thursday night after a massive windstorm blew through Southcentral Tuesday night.

As utility companies scrambled to fix equipment, frustration was starting to build. When the winds whipped through Southcentral Tuesday night 25,000 Chugach Electric customers lost power, and Thursday more than 3,000 of them were still waiting for the lights to come on.

Anchorage resident Pierre Clairmont said, "We have things that we have to do in our house, a household business to take care of, and we can't do it in the dark."

Residents were getting frustrated and having a hard time getting information about when the power will be fixed. By noon Thursday Chugach had got over 16,000 calls from customers looking for answers; answers the company didn’t have yet. Chugach is hoping to have everything fixed by this weekend, but said some outages could go into next week.

Mary Roseshockley, whose lights had also been out since Tuesday, wass waiting it out and said she understands after large storms fixing all the damage takes time. She said, "They get on it as quick as they can; no complaints over the electrical because I know if there was anything we would all have power."

Until that happens you can expect utility crews will be working around the clock to get the lights back on.

We're still no power and consequently with a well, no water (drinking or flushing). Have yet to see any trucks or crews in S. Birchwood or Chugiak.
