ANCHORAGE - The death of a woman found lying in an Eastside road early Sunday morning is no longer considered suspicious.
Dispatchers said the report first came in at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, when callers described an unresponsive person lying in the intersection at 9th Avenue and Bragaw Street. The woman was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, and police said they initially began investigating the death as a possible homicide.
According to police, the 29-year-old woman, now identified as Diana Knapp, was in a van with three other passengers when she intentionally jumped out of the van while it was moving. She received head and neck injuries and died at the scene. Witnesses told APD drugs were involved in the incident.
