Police say after nearly two years of searching they've finally nabbed the graffiti artist known as “MENO.”

The person behind the graffiti seen on structures from Girdwood to Chugiak has been identified as 20-year-old Maximino Gonzales.

Police say they caught Gonzales in the act early Saturday morning around 2:30 at the footbridge near Tudor Road and Willowcrest Elementary School.

According to police, when two officers approached Gonzales he ran into nearby woods where they found him minutes later, spray paint and stencils in hand.

“From the number of reports I've seen so far, and I think the tremendous number that have been unreported, that there probably would be thousands of dollars worth of damage when you think about all of the property owners who have had to pay for paint or repairs to make their property whole,” said Officer Scott Lofthouse.

Gonzales was cited for two misdemeanors: possession of graffiti implements and graffiti on public and private property.

What the hell? Gonzales was cited for two misdemeanors: possession of graffiti implements and graffiti on public and private property. This dude was caught red-handed. This is destruction of public and personal property pure and simple. The lowest form of scum is one who destroys someone elses property'

Forget you clownshoes. This guys art had a statement PLEASE have him decorate this bland city with good art. Nobody sees the anti-war message in it? or am I crazy? images of starving children aren't enough to push Americans anymore. you have to tell them on their homes. right sided bigots only see ways to fill their wallets.

yea if they doint' they will be encouraging the kids to do more of this degenerate b.s. by publicizing him on tv and in print. Is it that hard to find a canvas? is your work that special that you have to deface other peoples property? There were some Graphitti artists that made that statement 20yrs ago. Dudes art is crap. imo

Being that his vandalism is distinctive, it shouldn't be hard to tally up the bill. Make him pay for the cleanup.
