Sunday afternoon, the Coast Guard reported that an Anchorage-based Cessna 182 flying from Hoonah did not make it into the Juneau International Airport Sunday morning as scheduled.

Later that afternoon, the Coast Guard located an electronic transmitting location beacon signal on the mountainside near Eagle Crest Ski Resort on Douglas Island.

In the evening, they found a debris field at the base of a 50-foot cliff, which included an engine and propeller but no known survivors.

The Coast Guard transferred search and rescue coordination over to the Alaska State Troopers and will return to the debris site Monday morning after the weather clears.
