Troopers say 61-year-old Stephan Hill, the owner of Inland Aviation, was the sole occupant of the Cessna 207 that left Aniak a little after 7 pm Tuesday night for Chuathbaluk. Locals reported that the runway lights were activated in the village but the inland plane did not arrive.

A short time later residents reported hearing a plane stall nearby. Troopers found the plane early Wednesday morning. They say Hill appeared to have died on impact.

The NTSB and FAA will be investigating the accident.
