ANCHORAGE - Firefighters said one person was injured in an East Anchorage house fire around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Bill Henderson said he suffered from minor smoke inhalation after he was awoken early this morning at his home on the 6400 block of E. 8th Avenue.

"The dogs were jumping up and down on the bed and raising Cain," Henderson said. "I could hear the smoke alarm and carbon detector saying fire, and so we started throwing stuff out the window."

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but Henderson said he has his suspicions.

"The whole back kitchen wall was on fire around the electrical box and the window there," he said.  "All I can think of is the electrical,  the only thing back there is the fuse box."

It was the second major fire of the night: Just after midnight, Anchorage Fire Department dispatchers said they received reports of a structure fire on the 6400 block of Askeland Drive.

Nobody was injured there, but dispatchers said the home is also a complete loss.
