Man Hospitalized in Mountain View StabbingAnchorage police are searching for Richard Smith, 21, after an early morning stabbing left one man in critical condition at a local hospital. Lt. Dave Parker said police initially received the call around 2:30 a.m Sunday, when a woman in a home on the 800 block of N. Flower Street told dispatchers a man had arrived at her doorstep apparently suffering from a heart attack. When police and paramedics arrived at the residence, they found 56-year-old Thomas Atkinson Jr. suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back. He was rushed into surgery, Parker said, and told police he had been drinking in his home on the 700 block of N. Flower Street with his girlfriend when they were joined by two men. The woman told police they had all been drinking together when Smith and Atkinson began fighting, and Smith began to stab the victim repeatedly in the back. Parker said a warrant has been issued for Smith's arrest on charges of second and fourth degree assault. |
