Olympic Snowboarder Callan Chythlook-Sisof’s Summer TrainingLots of plyometrics, lower body and core strength training keeps this winter sport athlete in top form. After being the first Alaska Native to represent in the 2010 Winter Olympic, snowboarder Callan Chythlook-Sisof is coming off her best year yet and she hopes to keep the momentum as she prepares for an intense summer of training. When you are one of the world's best snowboarders, doing what it takes to stay at the top of your game takes on a whole new perspective. “I've already been there and I know what to train for and so for me it’s cool,” said Callan. Callan said she was “bummed” that the season is over, because she felt like she was just “getting the ball rolling.” And from squats to lunges, she's training to be faster and stronger. “Lot of plyos,” Callan said, “and trying to make your legs as quick as possible it's mainly focused on lower body stuff and your core.” Callan is proud to share her message of dedication and commitment. “People from rural Alaska are so supportive of me and it makes it even that more special,” said Callan. To show that through hard work and some fun, the dream of being number one can be a reality. “Thinking about the next one…I can't wait to be apart of it again,” said Callan. Callan will be heading to the U.S. Olympic Snowboard Team headquarters in Park City, Utah, to begin her training for the December season and to take some college classes. Now that she knows what to expect, she's ready to pick up exactly where she left off. |

She was at the Olympic Training center in San Diego when i took a group of students from Levelock there. She hung out with them all day. She is a real class act and Alaska should be proud of her.
