ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police have released the names of the two officers who fired shots at a suspect in two robberies Tuesday morning.

K9 Officers Lars Tulip and Scott Huston both discharged their service weapons, hitting one man, who was transported to a local hospital.

Police tried to make a traffic stop on 30th Avenue between Spenard Road and Arctic Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20. Police believed the vehicle was involved in two robberies during the night before, and when they attempted the traffic stop, the vehicle tried to flee, ramming both civilian and police vehicles. At that point, Officers Tulip and Huston fired their weapons, hitting one man, who remains hospitalized.

An arrest warrant was issued for the man shot, Aaron Robert Woods, age 31, of Anchorage. He's charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and will be served the warrant once he's released from the hospital.
